UGA Amara

Amara is a dance team that specializes in classical Indian dance styles. We aim to build a strong foundation by forming tight relationships between our members and promoting our university both on campus and at competitions. Our main goal is to bring awareness and recognition to the beauty and elegance of Indian Classical dance through our set, and along the way make long-lasting enriching friendships that have become our own family in Athens.

We usually perform at campus events such as UGA’s International Street Festival, Asian American Association Night Market and Lunars, and Indian Student Association events. We have a roster size of 10 but have a team size of 13, which includes our inactive members. We love our team so much! Each of us has a windbreaker with a specialized nickname on it that the team comes up with at the beginning of the year. Along with this, we always do big/littles within the team to foster community and deeper bonds between the team. This is our first year competing and we have participated in Hansini and Mayuri 2025.
