ABOUT ME AND DANCE. GET TO KNOW ME AND MY WORK
Kavya, founder of whydance.org and Tampon Express, is a high school Junior from Marlton, New Jersey. A devoted fine artist and dancer, Kavya is known for having created A Lexicon of a Novel Virus, the acclaimed map of ink and gel that represents the lexicon of fear and hope stretching across the United States at the start of the pandemic in Spring of 2020. “A Lexicon of a Novel Virus” is presently on display at the Evesham Township Library. She is also the composer of Generation Misinformation. Currently on display at Medplus Drugs and Surgicals, Generation Misinformation is a collage of New York Times headlines, images, and snippets which encompass the major news stories of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kavya has a deep passion for helping the world and empowering girls and women to reach their greatest potential.

Erika Chiommino
Whydance Board MemberErika is a high school sophomore from Mount Laurel, New Jersey. She has been dancing for 12 years now, engaging in the styles of jazz, hip hop, ballet, lyrical, and acrobatics. Being in the studio and performing on stage since the age of four had made her fall in love with the art of dance, and ever since it has been a major passion of hers. Being able to express her emotions and thoughts through a physical outlet is something that she will never let go of; dance is what holds the pieces together.
Shannon Keane
Whydance Board MemberShannon Keane is a sophomore who is in her 5th year of dancing. She currently does hip-hop, tap, ballet, lyrical, and jazz. Her favorite styles are hip-hop and jazz, but she loves all kinds of dance! Dance, even when Shannon wasn’t going to a studio, has always been a passion for her because it helps her become more confident and expressive through performing.
Natalie Jones
Whydance Board MemberA native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Natalie Jones is a sophomore in early college. Her journey as a dancer began at the tender age of 7 and continues to this day. She now concentrates on her studies in ballet at The Core Academy, and also takes weekly classes in hip hop. In the past, Natalie has taken dance classes in several genres, including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and acrobatic dance. Throughout her career as a dancer, she has developed a special interest in the anatomy and physiology of the human body. More specifically, she enjoys learning how dance promotes mental and physical health. She hopes to continue learning and exploring as she grows as a dancer.
Rebecca Cui
Whydance Board MemberRebecca Cui is a high school sophomore located in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. With childhood experiences in Chinese heritage dances and a decade of piano and 2D art classes, Rebecca has a well rounded experience with the creative arts. An avid artist and photographer, Rebecca also finds fulfillment through research, debate, and writing. She wants to use her experiences and skillset to connect the elements of life to elements of visual art.
Sarah Joseph
Why Dance Board Memberbeen more artistically inclined, actively
participating in various arts and crafts projects
and taking violin lessons since the age of
eight. Sarah's interest in such endeavors led
her to pursue dancing, an activity that has
become a constant in her life up until now as a
high school sophomore in New Jersey.
Wanting a stronger connection to her roots,
she has been learning traditional Indian
dances such as Bharatanatyam and
Bollywood, and is part of a team that
participates in local competitions. Sarah hopes
to continue dancing throughout her life, and in
doing so, preserve and spread her culture.
