Nanticoke dance to be featured at Native American Day

The Nanticoke Indian Dance Troupe will be recognized at Native American Day in Millsboro next month.

Planned for Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Nanticoke Indian Museum on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24), Native American Day is an annual event, and this year the focus will be on local and regional dancers.

“We are honoring our dancers and expressing our appreciation for how they have represented the Nanticoke Tribe — not just throughout the state of Delaware but along the East Coast,” Nanticoke Chief Natosha Carmine said.

“Some of them have gone to Missouri to be a headline dance troupe for Wagons for Warriors. This is their fourth year — not last year because of COVID, but they were invited again this year,” she said.

Wagons for Warriors is the largest gathering of chuck wagons in the world. Proceeds from its events benefit local military servicemen and -women and veterans in need.
